It's been nice this month because I'm only tutoring one day a week, and since B is home every W, TR, and F, we've tried to get out and do some things we don't always get to do with Miss C b/c of our schedules. We've been enjoying the new community pool (complete with waterslide and giant mushroom) and this week we decided to go to the Wild Animal Safari down in Pine Mountain. I've seen the signs and heard about it, but never really had the urge to go. Now that Chloe is a bit older and is very into animals and what noises they make, we decided that today (Code Orange Smog alert and sooo hot) would be a good day to ride in our air-conditioned car and look at some animals.
It was actually a lot more than that! This place has animals from six continents and has twice as many animals as the Atlanta Zoo, with a "Walk About" area and a driving area. We checked out the walk-through part first. I sweated to death and my feet swelled up a size, but Chloe loved it, of course! She got to see many of the farm animals she's come to know through all her books. She is still not big on the petting of the animals, but she definitely seemed to like looking at all of them.
The really fun part, though, was the drive-through animal safari. This place is loaded with giraffes, zebras, buffalo, deer, reindeer--you name it, it's out walking around this place. They even have bags of food you can buy to feed the animals as you drive through. And let me tell you, the animals know you've got food: they swarm your car! It was so much fun, partly because Chloe got to ride up front in my lap the whole time, and because we got to see so many different types of animals upclose.
Chloe, again, seemed to really like looking at the animals, but she was also interested in all the buttons up front in the car, and her lunch that she was eating. I think B and I may have had more fun than she did! :)

That looks like a really cool thing to do, Safari in GA, go figure. Chloe is getting big, and now in her own bed. WOW! Miss you all and hope all is going well, after the kitchen is back and running. love, GK
I'm just catching up w/ your blog. I hope you've got the oven thing squared away. My wee fella would be on the phone himself about all that. What is it with the kids and their chicken tenders/nuggets? lol
